Hans Peeters, journalist from the daily De Gelderlander, asked me for an issue on my bike-building activities. Just one day later, the 30th of September, he visited me accompanied by photographer Do Visser. The next day, October 1st 2008, the article was published in the newspaper. It was peculiar to experience the difference compared to motorcycle magazines: issues in such magazines cover mostly several pages and contain, next to the making-of history, quite some technical information. Such an article is than published, illustrated with a lot of pictures, some months after the interview and photoshoot. Not so at the daily's: within one day the interview, the photoshoot, the writing and the publishing was completed. Interviewer and photographer were in and out in three quarters of an hour! Little technical information but the accent was on background information and human interest. Understandable for something as volatile as a news paper which has a wide - and not particular in bikes - interested reader range. Until now the CBX had been covered in a lot of magazines from Finland to Spain, but never in a local medium like this daily. Only few people in my neighbourhood knew about my passion; that has changed, noticable by the comments. Click the picture for an enlarged view of the article. Or read it online. |

Hans mailed me the original picture. Do Visser had to make it quickly because it was raining. The wide angle objective enlarges the close parts of the bike which corresponds to the story that the engine is an eye-catcher. Click the picture to enlarge it. |
