November 30th and the first of December 2002: the Dutch specials and streetfightershow 'Street or Track', for the third time in a row. This time in a sports hall in Nieuwegein. A small, enjoyable event.
Friday November 29th I rode the CBX to the show. After 'de-mudding' the bike from the rainy FighteRama trip.
Placed behind a fence: just look, don't touch. A pity though that a lot of the bike's aspects remained unseen for the visitors.
My paintless bike, as usual surrounded by a multi-coloured collection of streetfighters.
GSX-R engine, MV Augusta F4 seat, nice seatpipes and ... the unsurpassed Spondon frame.
A Hayabusa with extended swingarm? Must be an Antillian dragracer!
It's a small world: 'Der Wikinger', photographer of the German streetfighter magazine Fighters Magazin, found his way to Street or Track to take pictures of our Dutch Beaties & Beasts.
In the middle: Rob Veltman's innovative Harley Fighter. 1200cc Sportster engine, GSX-R USD fork, Fireblade swingarm, Duc 916 monoseat and a nice headlamp set. Being 'simply black' fits the bike.
A nice initiative, deserving to be copied: on a stage some bikes were presented to the audience, as was Rob's bike. Jon Tober (Maxx Events) interviewed the owners/builders.
I demonstrated the CBX on sunday as well. The audience was interested, and it was fun to do.
The jury surprised friend and enemy with, well ... 'unorthodox' arguments.
Question: "Why did the V-Max win second prize, and not first?"
Answer: "It isn't as clean as the winner's bike." (!)
Promoting this opinion the jury and the organization gave out a bad signal. To me the moral winner was the V-Max owner who DID NOT trailer his bike to the show but came riding.
And the way home? As usual: heavy rainfall. But ... that too is all part of the game!
